Privatisation of Water Means Return of the Feudal System

Under the feudal system  all land, water and resources belonged to the Lord of the Manor, and the rest of the population were peasants condemned forever to pay rent to their Master for the privilege of living on the land and farming it and drawing water from the wells, with no hope of ever rising above their subservient status.

If they sell our water supply to multinational companies that subservient class will be us. The  companies  will have a monopoly on supply and charge what they want and increase or restrict availability according to how much they can screw out of us.

Of course, if they also own bottled water and soft drink companies they can  make sure the water coming out of our  taps is so unpalatable we have to buy their bottled product to drink as well.

Going on past performance of privatisation schemes anyone with a rainwater tank will have to pay a fee to the water company for what they  collect because the water company is thereby losing out on revenue.

To put it another way, if you want your water supply to be run like the Cross-City Tunnel, just vote for  privatisation.

Privatised water makes about as much sense as privatised electricity, a privatised Telstra and a privatised toll road system.

One Nation says return to the days when Governments fulfilled their job of providing us with  universal basic services at a price everyone could afford, instead of selling off everything they can get their grubby little hands on to the highest and most unscrupulous bidder.
