Baby Bonus Should Be Abolished

The latest ridiculous proposal to increase the Howard Government baby bonus to $10,000 is a good time to state the obvious:  the baby bonus must go.

If we have the booming economy we are told we have  it seems strange that people can  afford to do anything except have children.

Through two world wars and a depression Australians  were known to raise families of  ten, with no assistance from Governments, and there is no evidence they fared  any worse than the welfare-dependent, often fatherless  families (otherwise known as "Gough's children") of today.

If the baby bonus is to stay One Nation has some serious questions to ask of what qualifies one to receive it :

Do you have to be married ?
Do you have to be drug free ?
Do you have to be an Australian citizen ?
Do you have to prove you have a stable, safe and healthy home for the baby ?
Do you have to be over 21?

If the Government wants to know why Australians are dying out  they should realise that since the 1960s there has been a gradual erosion of parents' rights, by which  they are forced to hand over the upbringing of their children to The State where The State and its instrumentalities, not to mention big business, the Teachers' Federation  and the media, can mould them into whatever they like.

One Nation says  support the traditional family, give parents back the right to discipline their children and teach them right from wrong as they see fit and they might see  21st century Australia as a place worth raising families in.
