Government's Citizenship Test a Victory for One Nation

The Senate has passed the bill introducing  the Howard Government's new citizenship test. Great.

This represents another victory for One Nation.

We are unashamed to say we "stacked" the formal call the Government put out for public submissions on the citizenship test question, by calling on members and supporters all over the country to "do the necessary".

(Notice we waited until the bill was passed to tell you that?)

However for once the Government appears to have listened to public opinion.

The fact that both the Greens and the Democrats voted against it ought to be enough to convince anyone the bill was right. Democrat Senator Andrew Bartlett is reported to have said the test had the potential  to be used "as an exclusionary device". Well Senator Bartlett, you got that bit right!

Together with the dropping of the word "multiculturalism" it means the Government is moving away from the Labor years when Hilaly was given red carpet entry  and citizenship had as much value as something you got out of a cornflakes packet.

The next step is to make citizenship revocable if an applicant if found to have lied on his application, and  to introduce a suitability test  for people who want a work visa or residency status.

To achieve this Australians should just keep voting One Nation.
