Our Government Should Condemn More Loudly the Red Chinese
Atrocities in Tibet
Our Government should be louder in its condemnation of the brutal
supression of the protests in Tibet.
Tibet never has been and never will be a part of China - Tibetans are a
unique people with their own culture, religion, traditions and history -
and they don't even speak Chinese.
Since 1959 when the Chinese communists invaded and occupied Tibet
there has been a holocaust of 1,000,000 Tibetans by the the brutal regime,
Tibetans in exile claim.
Tibetans are now a minority in their own country.
How hypocritical of our Government to condemn the invasion of Kuwait by
Sadaam Hussein, but to remain silent on the occupation of Tibet.
Would they like their country to be invaded and taken over?
If anybody wants to know why China wants Tibet, just as the Middle East
has most of the world's oil, Tibet has an even
more vital commodity - water. Tibet is the source of the Yangtze, Mekong
and Indus rivers that irrigate the lands of three billion people in
Asia. According to the World Wildlife Fund website the
Yangtze supplies 40% of Red China's freshwater, is vital to more than 70% of
its rice production, 50% of its grain, more than 70% of its fisheries and
40% of its GDP. By controlling Tibet and the three rivers,
China can control Asia.
It seems strange the Liberal/National Opposition should be so lukewarm on
Tibet considering they sent 500 Australians to die in Vietnam in the name
of fighting communism.
Could it be both Government and Opposition remain silent on the coninued
occupation of Tibet because the fate of the Tibetans, having their
country and sovreignty stolen from under their feet and their resources
used for the profit of others, is what is in store for us?
Significant pro-Tibetan activists like Hollywood actor Richard Gere have
called for a boycott of the Olympic Games because of the brutal
crackdown.
The Chinese Communist Party is a crumbling edifice - we only have
to kick in the front door and the whole rotten structure will come
tumbling down.
One Nation says all power to the action of the gallant people of Tibet in
their efforts to reclaim their country.
